Family loses home in fire

One adult and five children are displaced after a fire in their home in the 5100 block of Trace Ct. on June 21. At 9:18 p.m., fire and medical personnel were dispatched from Bensley, Dale, Centralia, Manchester and Dutch Gap fire stations to the emergency. As mutual aid, a unit from DLA (DSCR) and City of Richmond also were dispatched. County police, a fire marshal, a safety officer and two battalion chiefs were on scene. Lt. Jason Elmore of Chesterfield Fire and EMS said that firefighters responded and found a two- story, wood frame, single family home with smoke showing from the front of the house. Fire was found in an upstairs bedroom of the home, Elmore said. The fire caused significant damage to the bedroom of origin and smoke damage throughout the upstairs of the home. The cause is under investigation.

Collision on Ruffin Mill
A tractor-trailer and a vehicle collided on Ruffin Mill Road on June 23 around 12:16 p.m. Fire and medical personnel from River’s Bend Fire Station was dispatched. No injuries were reported. The crash is under investigation.
