Chester Clergy is hosting a special prayer service for Chester area residents titled “Praying for Our Schools” on Sunday, Sept.15, at 6 p.m. at Thomas Dale High School Auditorium. This event will bring together churches and Christians in the area to ask God’s blessing on Chester’s schools, staff and students this upcoming year. Attendees will thank God for all those who serve schools and take time to pray for schools by name and need.
“So often communities gather for prayer after a school tragedy, but why not gather in our beginning and moments of peace and seek God in those moments, too?” says Shawn Franco, prayer service organizer.
Area pastors will lead this time of prayer as members of several churches also join together for a community choir and worship. The prayer service will last about one hour.
The theme Scripture is a well-known Scripture that calls God’s people to prayer: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
“Praying For Our Schools” will take place Sunday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., doors open at 5:30 p.m. Thomas Dale High School Auditorium is located at 3626 West Hundred Rd. in Chester. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/praying4ourschools.
