Johnson named to All-Academic tennis team at Lynchburg

Joshua Johnson is a sophomore in the Nursing School at Lynchburg College.  He recently received the honor of being selected for the All-Academic Team for Tennis in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).  The ODAC All-Academic Team encompasses all ODAC sports and an athlete needs to maintain at least a 3.25 GPA to be eligible.  During the fall of his freshman year at Lynchburg, he was the Singles Quarter-finalist and Doubles Champion in his division.   

Prior to the collegiate level, Josh played three years, starting two, for Thomas Dale High School.  He was selected to the All-District Team and was the District Doubles Champion his senior year.  His statistics combined were 30-2 senior season (14-2 in singles, 16-0 in doubles).  Thomas Dale posted a combined record of 46-2 in his time for the Knights. 

Josh also ran cross country and track in high school.  After receiving his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Lynchburg, he plans to continue in a graduate program to become a Nurse Anesthetist.  He is the son of Lauran and Jeff Johnson of Chester.
