Police take back 669 pounds of unused medication

The Chesterfield County Police Department, in partnership with SAFE, Chesterfield’s substance abuse prevention coalition, helped residents safely dispose of several hundred pounds of expired and unneeded prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Chesterfield County Police hosted a Medication Take-Back event at the Chester campus of John Tyler Community College on Saturday, Sept. 14. During the four-hour event, police and volunteers collected 669 pounds of unused, unwanted and potentially harmful prescription medications and drugs. A total of 202 residents dropped off medications.

The next medication take-back will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds.
