Ecoff could get new running track

Board of Supervisors Bermuda District Supervisor Dorothy Jaeckle has asked for the transfer of $5,000 from the Bermuda District Improvement Fund to the Parks and Recreation Department for the renovation of the playground and track areas at Ecoff Elementary School, according to county staff.

Supervisor Jaeckle and School Board Representative Carrie Coyner have been working with school athletic departments to open running tracks to the public. The tracks were closed at least 10 years ago and have not been available to citizens since.

“If you look up and down Route 10 you see people walking. I would like to have a place where they can walk and exercise in a safe place,” Jaeckle said. “I never understood why they were closed to the public in the first place.”
