Ettick Elementary dedicates new playground equipment

On Friday, October 11, 2013, Ettrick Elementary School Faculty and students celebrated the dedication of the new playground equipment.  Even the dreary rain could not dampen the spirits of the Ettrick Community as they came to celebrate and recognize community partner, The Ettrick Neighborhood Foundation.  The foundation generously donated $10,000 to purchase playground equipment.  Capital One had also provided $1,000, and the school had raised $7,000 through the efforts of the PTA.

The Matoaca High School Marching Band came to help get everyone in celebration mood.  Their music was awesome and made the celebration very festive. Community partners Ft. Lee, Martha Mason Foundation, Rudy Johnson Foundation, The Chesterfield Department of Social Services, Communities In Schools and the Ettrick Neighborhood Foundation were all in attendance, as well as Chesterfield County Planning Commissioner representing Matoaca, Dr. Edgar Walent, and Chesterfield County Superintendent, Dr. Marcus Newsome.  Dr. Edgar Walent and Dr. Newsome held the ceremonial ribbon as Ettrick Neighborhood Foundation representative, Nancy Ross, cut the ribbon.
