CDOT will finish Meadowbrook sidewalk, install period streetlights

Chesterfield is about to embrace more pedestrian access in Meadowbrook. Not only will sidewalks link existing sidewalks along Cogbill Road east of Iron Bridge Road but streetlights will be added.

Chesterfield County Transportation Department  will manage the building of the sidewalk from Howell Drive to Meadowbrook High School’s existing sidewalk. The total project is expected to cost up to $650,000 with funding coming from VDOT’s revenue sharing (a VDOT and local match) and VDOT transportation enhancement funds.

According to county staff documents, “In addition to construction of sidewalks, the project will include the installation of approximately 26 streetlights. Staff proposes to use Dominion Virginia Power to installed and maintain the streetlights in the “Cutoff Colonial” style with smooth poles. This style is consistent with the existing lights in the community and conforms to the streetlight policy.”

Chesterfield expects to take bids in February 2014. Construction is expected to begin in March 2014 and be completed by June 2014.
