Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of six more weeks of winter seems to be holding true. Another blast of snow and ice paid us a visit on Wednesday into late Thursday. The storm rolled in with thunder snow and snow lighting late Wednesday giving commuters hazardous driving conditions making for a long commute home. The wet snow Wednesday evening left the community with four to six inches closing schools and many businesses on Thursday. Early Thursday morning the snow proved to be too heavy for the Shell Gas Station, on the corner of West Hundred Road and Jefferson Davis Highway, collapsing the roof. No one was injured during the collapse. Due to another round of fluffy snow Thursday evening, dropping over an inch, schools remained closed on Friday.
