Local group runs for autism charity

Bright and early on Saturday, May 29, volunteer board members of Chesterfield-based UniqueKids once again set up their “vendor” table for the annual 5k to benefit the Autism Society of America Central Virginia, according to information from board member Mark Coleman.

The 5k Walk/Run is the primary fund raiser for the Autism Society Central Virginia (ASCV), which provides workshops, advocacy, networking and many more valuable services to families in the Greater Richmond area, Coleman says.

The organization encourages the 5k participants to form teams, he says.  Coleman’s son, Tyler, a seventh grader at Chester Middle School, participated again this year.
UniqueKids is a local organization run for the benefit of children with autism and their families, Coleman says. Throughout the year, UniqueKids offers activities such as indoor kickball, Kidfit, baseball and summer camps. For more information on the group, visit uniquekidsva.org.
