Colonial Honda celebrates 40 years

It was 40 years ago when Colonial Honda opened its doors and they were recently honored by Honda Motor Company for their success.

“We are a family company and I’m the third generation to be a part of Colonial Honda,” said Liza Borches, CEO of Carter Myers Automotive. “Granddad would flip in his grave if he saw his small dealership become the number one volume dealer in Virginia.”

Colonial Honda was located in Petersburg for 30 years before moving to its current location off I-95 in Walthall 10 years ago.

“Chesterfield County has been wonderful to work with; we took down the old Interstate Motel and increased jobs in the county,” said Carter Myers. “It’s a great location and the premier auto park in Virginia.”

According to Myers, over 300 workers are employed between the six dealership located along Interstate 95, three of which are a part of Carter Myers Automotive Group. Myers added that some employees have been with Colonial Honda for 35 years and 26 percent of the company is employee owned.
