A pastor’s dream becomes a reality

A couple of years ago, Dr. Tom Lovorn, the pastor at God’s Storehouse Baptist Church, noticed there were no safe walkways for people in the neighborhood. He noticed many people walking in the roads, pushing baby carriages, people using walkers, etc. Immediately, Dr. Tom recruited a young scout, John Hlasny, who agreed and succeeded in completing the walking trail to obtain his Eagle Scout Badge.  Dr. Tom’s dream, now a reality, is located behind the church at 5007 Jessup Rd.  This park has a safe walking trail that may be enjoyed by the community because of the financial assistance and physical support given by the church congregation, local organizations and businesses within the community.  On Saturday, June 28, the church held a opening ceremony for the Community Park. This park includes a quarter-mile walking trail and a children’s playground. The Ribbon Cutting was held at 11:30 a.m. where the Dale District Supervisor, Mr. Jim Holland,  officially accepted the park for the community. Children were the church’s special guests as they were able to enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo,  a giant slide, on the new playground. Hot Dogs, Snow-cones were available throughout the event, as well as,  Gospel music groups singing during the day.
