Former Virginia Gov. George Allen held a book signing for his recently published book What Washington Can Learn from the World of Sports as a prelude to Tavern Talk, the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia’s new fundraising project. The Monday night event brought a crowd of around 30 out to Howlett’s Tavern to meet and submit questions to Allen as part of the program. A percentage of the day’s food sales will benefit the historical society.
The book is Allen’s first published book. Asked whether he will be announcing his run for the Senate in 2012, Allen said: “Perhaps. A lot of folks have been encouraging me. When you look at what is going on in Washington, everything looks to be against us. Right now, I am helping out folks running in 2010.” Pictured is Allen chatting with Chester resident Carole Willis. Inscribed in her book was, “With all my best and keep smiling as you enjoy life.”
