Thomas Dale’s boys track team dominated the Central District meet held last Thursday at the Ashe Center.
The Knights were led, as usual, by their powerful distance squad of Scott Garton, Chris Martin and Grayson Smith, who swept the top three places in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races. Quinton Fulghum took the long jump, Sam Hartman captured the shot and Byron Robinson took the 300. In the day’s most exciting finish, Domico Phillips of Meadowbrook edged Dale’s Lorenzo Fields by two hundredths of a second to take the 55 with a time of 6.71 seconds.
On the girl’s side, Dale used its balance and depth to overcome Prince George. Dale’s only champions were Siobhan Ford-Holland in the triple jump and Kristen Greene in the shot. The district’s outstanding performer was Ciera Morris, who thrilled the crowd with her wins in the 55, 300, and high jump.
