Some of the state’s most gifted athletes converged on Hampton’s Boo Williams Sports Complex this weekend to contest the 2010 AAA State Indoor Track Championships.  A quartet of Thomas Dale stars paced area athletes in the two-day competition.  

The area’s top competitors were Quintin Fulghum, who took third in the long jump, and Sam Hartman, who propelled the shot a career-best 52 feet 2 ½ inches in taking fourth place.  Kristen Greene took fifth in the same event with a heave of 36 feet 10 inches.  

Sarah Fulghum took sixth by clearing 5 feet 1 inch in the high jump.  Meadowbrook’s Brianna Arrington also placed in the shot put with a toss of 36 feet 6 inches, good for a sixth place finish.

The focus of track and field athletes now turns outdoors, as spring competition begins in earnest later this month.
