The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) has initiated a new patronage program entitled, “History Is Good For Business.” This initiative, which offers an exclusive level of Society membership to Chesterfield County businesses, emphasizes the value of heritage tourism to the economic viability of the county business community.
According to current CHSV president Liess van der Linden-Brusse, “If Chesterfield County is to be regarded as a First Choice Community, we must form sponsor partnerships with county businesses, whose support is integral to preserve and promote the county’s unique history for the education and enjoyment of its residents while also attracting tourist dollars. Together with our business partners, we can turn this county into a significant Virginia tourist destination.”
Annual Business Membership in CHSV is $100. In addition to public recognition in the Society’s quarterly newsletter, The Messenger, and in promotional materials for sponsored programs, every new Chesterfield Business Member will receive complimentary passes to a variety of CHSV events. These include seasonal lecture series, rotating exhibits, historic site tours and Civil War battlefield tours.
Established in 1981 as the center for Chesterfield County history, the mission of CHSV is to collect, preserve, interpret and promote the county’s past for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations.
