The Rotary Club of Chester’s spring event took a new direction this year; not just serving barbecue, but conducting a barbecue competition. With five professionals and three amateurs, there was a great selection of barbecue to taste and to judge. The attendance about 1200, the lines were quite long but kept a steady pace. Most agreed, the secret is in the sauce.
Winning the People’s Choice award was Sibley’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant & Catering. They also won in the beef barbecue category. King’s Korner Restaurant & Catering took top honors for best pork barbecue and F.W. Sullivan’s ranked first in best chicken. Barbie’s Que-T’s, Matt Hill and family, won top honors for the amateur competition. Hill said, “I cooked 170 pounds of meat and this has been a great day for Chester.”
