Linda King was named the 2011 Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother last week during a Tuesday morning reception at Magnolia Grange. It was there that King was officially chosen to lead the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother program, a nonprofit, charitable organization created for the sole purpose of offering assistance during the holiday season.
King, a retired 35-year employee of Verizon Communications, has been a member of the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother Committee for six years, where she’s in charge of purchasing clothing items for teen boys. A resident of Midlothian, King will be seeking assistance from our community to ensure that the children and the elderly in need will have a holiday filled with joy.
With a mission to ensure that, in our community, no family is without food, no child is without toys and clothing, and no elderly person is forgotten during the holidays, the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother program provides community members opportunities to help in several ways such as: sponsoring a family or a senior citizen by providing food and gifts during the holidays; donating food and/or gifts; contributing monetary donations to purchase toys, food and clothing; and volunteering their time with the program.
For more information on the program, or to volunteer with or donate to Christmas Mother, call their office at 748-1183 or 751-4657 between 8:40 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
