J.P. Visser exhibits work at Chester Library

Contemporary artist J.P. Visser will be the exhibiting artist for the month of December at the Chester Library.  Visser’s exhibit will run from December 3 through the December 30.  Chesterfield Center for the Arts Foundation is sponsoring an opening reception for Visser on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.  in the Maud Hurt Meeting Room.
J.P. Visser’s collection, In Pursuit of the Sublime, features a collection of contemporary landscapes that use color and form to create mystery, intrigue and dimensionality.  Visser reaches the far limits for what a painter can perceive and express in a minimal expression.  Visser says she is led by her spiritual instinct rather than her creativity.

The artist leads the viewer beyond the landscape by using color and form. By doing so, her audience is left transcending the physical world.  Nature, as Visser describes, is the “reflection of the soul.”  It is the hope of the artist that the viewer will respond to the mystical-spiritualist qualities in her work and find a sanctuary of peace in her paintings.
Visser is a member of the Chester Artists Association, Fine Art America, Richmond Artworks and the Virginia Collage Society.
