Tree Lighting kicks off holiday season with Bensley students

Bensley Elementary School’s fifth-grade chorus officially launched the holiday season for Defense Logistics Agency employees performing four holiday songs during the annual tree lighting ceremony Dec. 7.

More than 500 employees, students and teachers attended the event in the Lotts Conference Center, which was followed by the annual talent competition.

DLA Aviation Commander, Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson, welcomed and thanked Bensley Elementary school students and staff for their participation.

“Mrs. Cooper is a passionate advocate for children,” said Brig. Gen. Jansson. “ She has been the principal at Bensley for 11 years, and one of her guiding values is to make all decisions in the best interest of the children.”

“The Tree Lighting ceremony has been held here for many years, and Bensley Elementary has been here to help make it a success,” Jansson continued. “I’m proud of the school partnership that we have with Bensley and our other three partnership schools—Bellwood and G.H. Reid Elementary Schools and Meadowbrook High School.”
