Hello and welcome back to the wonderful and “free” world of the Dogpound.  As you know we in the Dogpound are always thinking [except for Max who sleeps more than he is awake] about how to make a better Dogpound community, and we have hit on a great idea.  For example, we know obesity is a major concern today and eating the daily three required helpings of vegetables would help stem that tide. However, they are not cheap and many household budgets are stretched so tight that they cannot afford fresh foods. Our solution is to make them free!  Yes, everyone should have the right to their daily helpings of vegetables, so we are going to make the insurance companies pay for them [well, except for eggplants and artichokes..yuck!].  Just imagine, walk into any grocery store and grab some fresh potatoes and green beans, walk up to the check-out and hand them your insurance card, pay a small co-pay and you are good to go.  It is so simple and considering that everyone will have to have insurance in the near future, it would be a no-fuss no-muss solution.  Also note, there is an added bonus…pizza is now considered a “veggie”, so I am ecstatic that I can now get my weekly pizza fix for free.  Let’s not stop there…think about it…you have all read medical studies proving that a few alcoholic drinks can be medically beneficial, so for those of us who drink, why should we be deprived of these healthy benefits?  No reason at all when they are free; everyone should be able to walk into their nearest store, pick up a 6-pack of their favorite brew, or bottle of wine [no hard stuff or mixed drinks…we don’t want to go over- board on this stuff…common sense must prevail], whip out your insurance card and you are good for the weekend.  Now I can sit back on the weekend, turn on the TV to watch my favorite basketball team while munching fresh pizza [ hot from the oven] and wash it all down with a cold beer… and it is all “free” is good.  Oh wait a minute..shouldn’t my cable be covered by my insurance too?

“Common sense is very uncommon.” Horace Greeley

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather’s lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally she spoke up, “Grandpa, did God make you?” “Yes, sweetheart,” he answered. “God made me a long time ago.” “Oh,” she paused. “Grandpa, did God make me too?”
“Yes, indeed, honey,” he said. “God made you just a little while ago.” Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, “God’s getting better at it, isn’t he?”

That is a wrap.  I need to go down to the grocery store and see if I can get a pizza for tonight’s game with my insurance card.  As always, be good, play safe and remember just because someone else pays for something it is not truly free.
