Two members of Ecoff Elementary School’s staff have achieved National Board Certification, teacher Jeanne Hensel said. Shannon Magne, a third grade teacher, and Jennifer Grossnickle, a guidance counselor, successfully completed the voluntary National Board Certification assessment program.
The assessment program is designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers who meet high standards based on what teachers should know and be able to do, Hensel said. As part of the certification process, candidates complete 10 assessments that are reviewed by trained teachers in their certificate areas. NBPTS Standards and National Board Certification give teachers and schools the tools to define and measure teaching excellence, she said.
