Raising awareness among young adults

Did you know during 2009 and 2010, 242 motor vehicle crashes occurred in Chesterfield County where the drivers were 15 to 24 years of age and had been drinking?
Substance Abuse Free Environment, Inc. (SAFE) of Chesterfield County is holding young adult focus groups as part of a prevention project to decrease the number of motor vehicle crashes with drinking drivers between the ages of 15 and 24. Participants must be residents of Chesterfield County between the ages of 18-24.  Food and financial compensation will be provided. Focus groups will be held Monday, August 20, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-4 p.m., Chesterfield County Youth Planning and Development, 9700 Krause Rd., Chesterfield.

Thursday, August 23, 10 a.m. -12 p.m., Wilde & Company, 812 Moorefield Park Dr., Suite 204, Richmond 23236.

As part of the young adult focus groups, we will provide you with information about the crashes that occurred during the years 2009 and 2010 where young adult drivers were found to have been drinking.  Then, we are keenly interested in learning your perceptions and opinions about social availability of alcohol and community norms surrounding the use of alcohol among persons 15 to 24 in Chesterfield County.

No one will be asked to contribute any information about their own personal behaviors – we only want to hear your perceptions of things.
