George Wythe 8

Paul Robertson rushed for 107 yards on just seven attempts and scored three touchdowns to lead Bird to a victory over George Wythe. Quarterback Terrance Ervin threw for three touchdowns, two of which went to Darius Hawkins. Bird improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Dominion and this Friday will host Manchester in a big Dominion district match-up at home. Kickoff will be at 7:30.

Meadowbrook 28
Mills Godwin 22

Gerard Johnson scrambled to the left and right before finding Terrell Whitaker for a 35-yard touchdown with just 30 seconds left in the game to give Meadowbrook the win, 28-22. Johnson threw for 119 yards and ran for 163 while scoring three touchdowns in the air and one on the ground. Meadowbrook improved its record to 2-1 on the season and will have a bye week before starting Central District play when they host Hopewell on September 28 at 7 p.m.

Matoaca 19
Clover Hill 6

Matoaca picked up their first win of the season defeating Clover Hill 19-6 on a strong overall performance. Scott Shook and Khalil Coleman provided nearly all of the offense as they combined for 272 yards rushing and all three of Matoaca’s touchdowns. The Warriors improved to 1-2 on the season. Like Meadowbrook, Matoaca will head into a bye week before hosting Thomas Dale on September 28 at 7 p.m.
