Obama camp opens office in Walthall

The Obama campaign made a big push in Southern Chesterfield County last weekend with the opening of its Chester campaign headquarters. A grand opening was held on Sunday for the Organizing for America Virginia office located at 15714 Jefferson Davis Hwy., in the Port Walthall Shopping Center.  The opening also gave supporters the opportunity to receive tickets to their Grassroots Event with Vice President Joe Biden, which was held on Tuesday at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds.

Over 20 teams had been set up over the weekend with team leaders organizing their communities. Team leaders have already been organizing phone banks, knocking on doors, canvassing their neighbors and registering voters.

Denise Jones, team leader for North Chesterfield said their biggest push was telling voters to be prepared when they go to the polls. “We are telling them to do not go to the polls unprepared – without having the information they would need to vote.  We are also telling them to do not leave the polls until they vote.  They need to call 866-687-8683 if they have any troubles at the polls.  And if it is a provisional vote, make sure it is counted.”

This is the second location to open in Chesterfield for the Obama campaign.  The first location to open was in Midlothian.  To volunteer, support or obtain signage, The Organizing for America Virginia office is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
