Drew Brockwell,12, of Chester, won the U.S. Kids Historic Triangle Winter Golf Tour (Boys 12 division) which was played on six different courses in the Williamsburg area including Kingsmill and Golden Horseshoe. His finish of 1st place on the tour has qualified him to play in the U.S. Kids World Championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina, this August.
After starting her basketball career at Catawba College, Nesmith transferred to Mount Olive College in North Carolina. The senior and business administration major is enjoying a career season in 2012-2013, averaging nearly a double-double per game at 16.2 points and 9.2 rebounds to lead the Trojans.

Bird’s Kenny Williams was selected as the Village News Boys’ Basketball Player of the year. Williams led a young, balanced Skyhawks team to a 24-4 record.
After making her mark in the Central Region, former Thomas Dale standout Alyssa Frye accepted a scholarship to play basketball at the College of Charleston (CofC). Nearly three seasons later, Frye has broken the CofC record for three-pointers made in a single season and in a single game.
