Senior Idol completion set for May 17

Description:

Tickets are now on sale for the Shepherd’s Center 2013 Senior Idol Competition which will be held on Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at Victory Tabernacle Church located at 11700 Genito Rd. in Midlothian.  The Senior Idol features 12 talented seniors, 50 years of age and older, competing for a cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100 respectively.  Proceeds will help benefit the senior services provided by The Shepherd’s Center of Chesterfield.

Poker Run for Hep C Awareness

Description:

The Hepatitis Education Awareness and Liver Support group Break the Silence VA has organized a Poker Run for Saturday, May 18. The 1st Annual Poker Run for Hep C Awareness will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and begin at Wild Rose Cafe located at 4620 W. Hundred Rd. All proceeds will go to awareness and outreach through MCV Funding for Research. Pre-registration is $15 by check or money order and $20 at the door.

Description:

Chester Presbyterian Church closes its Winter/Spring 2013 arts series with “An Evening with Hope Armstrong Erb and Violaine Michel” on Sunday May 19, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary.

Hope Armstrong Erb is an active pianist, conductor, teacher, composer and lecturer performing in the United States, China, and Europe. She has recorded with violinist Yoko Kato a critically acclaimed compact disc.

Seniors get free help with legal documents

Description:

Older adults and those with disabilities who need help preparing life-planning documents, including wills, durable powers of attorney and advance medical directives, may receive free assistance on Lawyers Helping Seniors Day on Wednesday, May 29, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Participants must be residents of Chesterfield County and must make reservations before April 30.

The confidential legal assistance is provided by attorneys who volunteer their time. All documents are prepared and finalized on the spot.

Pocahontas Performances premier series presents Richmond Youth Symphony

Description:

The Pocahontas Performances Premier Series will present its popular annual concert by the Richmond Youth Symphony, Sunday, June 2, 7 p.m., at Pocahontas State Park. This concert is co-sponsored by the Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Bring a picnic, blankets or lawn chairs, and enjoy this free family-friendly concert. No alcohol or glass bottles are permitted, and there is a per-vehicle charge for parking.
