Chester Rotary donates to Troop 819

CHESTERFIELD —On behalf of the Rotary Club of Chester, Dr. Sam Galstan presented Brian Galusha, assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of American Troop 819, with a $ 1,000 check August 9. Troop 819 was founded in 1932, and is one of the oldest BSA Troops in the area. The troop is more than 84 years old, and has been generously sponsored by St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chester for the troop’s entire history.  Through the years, several hundred young men have come through the troop and learned valuable life, community, and leadership skills.  Both of Galstan’s sons, Bailey and Berkeley, are Eagle…

CHESTERFIELD — The Shepherd’s Center of Chesterfield has an urgent need for volunteer drivers to transport seniors to medical appointments and the grocery store, and for phone receptionists to receive calls and schedule rides. Receptionists would work from the Shepherd’s Center office at 6800 Lucy Corr Blvd. Areas in need of drivers include Chesterfield County, VCU Medical Center, Colonial Heights, Chester, Hopewell and Prince George. Hops in Park at Henricus Park returns in November

CHESTER – This year’s second annual Hops in the Park is Saturday, November 12, and there are exciting new features being added to the event. We have partnered with a local Richmond artist, Mickael Broth, to have him create this year’s “brand/artwork” for the event.  Thursday, August 18, he will be painting in the Church and Meeting Hall 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. His canvas will be a wooden door built by interpreter Terry Marr, in the style of the Church and Meeting Hall’s front door.

Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers needs your help this week to solve an identity fraud. On July 5, Chesterfield County Police received a call from a resident whose bank had notified her that her account had a negative balance. Upon investigating the claim, she discovered that an unauthorized transaction had occurred at the Wells Fargo on Midlothian Turnpike. Thanks to excellent surveillance footage, Chesterfield detectives were able to trace the illegal transactions to two suspects.
