Though Chesterfield Fire & EMS predates 1950, the first salaried Fire Marshal was hired in 1966. In 1969, the first salaried firefighters were hired and it was at this time that Robert L. Eanes went from being the Fire Marshal to Chief of the Department. Chief Eanes would lead the organization until 1996. Chesterfield would go from being an all-volunteer department to a combination department. Signature event a success at Chester Library

By Linda Fausz Chester Library nearly doubled its usual Saturday traffic when over 700 children, teens and adults got a taste of all different kinds of art, on Saturday, during Chester Library’s roll-out signature event “A Taste of Art.” Activity was happening in every corner and the excitement was felt throughout with staff and volunteers dressed in black and sporting colorful berets, to represent the long-standing stereotype of the intellectual, film director, artist, hipster, or poet. “Our goal was to celebrate all types of art,” said Jessica Harshbarger. The 2016 Empowering Neighborhoods Forum will be held Saturday, April 23, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Thomas R. Fulgham Conference Center, 13900 Hull Street Road.
