Nominees for Empowering Neighborhood Awards, and vendors for the upcoming Empowering Neighborhoods Forum, where the awards will be presented, are sought ahead of the upcoming event.

The 2016 Empowering Neighborhoods Forum will be held Saturday, April 23, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Thomas R. Fulgham Conference Center, 13900 Hull Street Road. The annual forum sponsored by the county’s Sustain Our Communities Committee focuses on revitalizing Chesterfield County by improving homes and neighborhoods, and is free and open to the public. A variety of vendors, workshops and activities will be available to help residents and community leaders revitalize their own communities. As part of the forum, the county’s Sustain Our Communities Committee will recognize outstanding individuals and groups who have enhanced the quality of life in county communities. Nominees are being accepted in three categories, including Volunteer of the Year, Organization of the Year and Association of the Year. The annual Empowering Neighborhoods Forum was recognized by the National Association of Counties in 2014, winning an Achievement Award in the Civic Education and Public Information category.
