On Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, Matthew Paul Brown, son, brother, father, uncle and cousin, passed away suddenly at the age of 49.

Matt will be forever remembered by his loved ones: mother Sylvia Brown, father Robert Brown, grandmother Bonnie Goldfarb, brother Kenneth Brown, brother Timothy Brown, sister Kristin Brown Velasco (Steve), biological son Matthew Clark, aunt Becky Clark (Danny), uncle Danny Dorsett (Lynn), aunt Cyndi Cortes (Alfredo), aunt Sandy Butters, and uncle Jack Goldfarb Jr. (Susan). Matt will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Matt’s latest employment was long distance truck driving, which he very much enjoyed. Prior to that, he was employed long term at a local packaging company. Matt loved God, his family, close friendships, writing letters, and was an avid football fan.

As a young man, he was a very successful middle linebacker and was also voted Most Valuable Player several times. His time spent in church, reading the Bible, in prayer and discipleship with other committed Christians is what sustained him throughout his life. Some of the last words he sent to his mother in a text message included, “He lives! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives! Our God reigns!”

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. at Cornerstone Church: 10551 Chalkley Road, N. Chesterfield, VA 23237.

Memorial donations in memory of Matt may be made to Cornerstone Church, 10551 Chalkley Road, N. Chesterfield, VA 23237.
