Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, to the 11800 block of Lewis Road for a fire at the Ingenco building, where methane from the landfill is converted into electricity at the Shoosmith Bros. complex.

A warehouse building had fire and smoke conditions when firefighters arrived, Lt. Jason Elmore said in a press release. It took crews approximately an hour to get the fire under control. A brief electrical outage was reported in the area.

A fire marshal’s investigation determined the cause was accidental and was likely caused by an electrical failure in a piece of heavy equipment.

Forty firefighters were on scene with 12 fire vehicles, Capt. Joe Harvey said. All had left by 11 p.m.
