While chanting is not common during track meets, if Marsh played basketball, that is what the crowd would shout. The secret has been out on jumper Titiana Marsh. The Thomas Dale freshman turned heads by hitting a triple jump of 40’ as a frosh. Proving it was not a fluke, she did it again, jumping a 41’2”, a freshman national record.
This past weekend at the Southern Track Classic, an invite-only meet held at Sportsbackers, Marsh was up to her old tricks. Marsh won both the triple jump and the long jump, setting a personal record at 19-10 with her performance in the long. Her triple jump measured 40-07.75.
The 6A indoor state champion is looking to make a clean sweep and take home the indoor crown as well. As discussed in previous coverage in the Village News, the sky is indeed the limit for the young phenom.
“It’s very uncommon for a freshman to jump so far,” said Thomas Dale Head Track Coach Jay Price. “Forty is not an uncommon mark for a junior or senior.”
Marsh will take to the skies a couple of times before then, but the 6A State Track Championships will be held June 5 and 6, just days before Marsh officially becomes a sophomore.
