The Chesterfield Baseball Club (CBC) 13U Pony All-Star team won the three-day East Zone championship tournament in Cranberry Township, PA, on Sunday, July 26, with a score of 18-4 in the final game. The team of 14 players and their two coaches traveled to Whittier, Calif. (outside of Los Angeles), on Thursday, July 30, to play in the Pony-13U World Series.
In the first round of the Pony 13U World Series, it was east versus west. CBC faced off against the West Zone Champions of Chula Vista, Calif. They lost 5-2, but the double elimination tournament allowed them to bounced back with a 18-1 victory over North Zone Champions of Grand Ledge, Minn. Next, they took on the host Wittier, Calif, winning 9-1.
After two decisive victories they earned a rematch with Chula Vista. They battle the West Zone Champions to the end, ultimately losing 7-6.
The 13-U Pony team includes local players from Chesterfield County including the Chester, Midlothian and central Chesterfield areas.
