Wilma Porter Barrett, 83, of Chester, VA passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, November 11, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garnett and Oakley Porter; her loving husband, Luther Barrett; brothers, Mac and Gaston Porter. She is survived by her children, Patricia Campbell, Larry Barrett (Deborah), and Tammy Levanseller (Jim); grandchildren, Lucas Barrett (Alicia), Angela Edens (Michael), Nicole Jennette, Emily Hanckel (Michael), Jason Campbell (Tammy), Brandon Campbell, Kari Rutledge and Barrett Rutledge; and seven great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Taylor, Burleane Mumpower, and Tommie Sheffey (John); a brother, Bobby Porter; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Wilma volunteered her time with Courthouse Relay for Life and was Honorary Chair. The family received friends on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment followed in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Courthouse Relay for Life. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Johnston Willis Hospital, second floor Atrium.
