Ray Eugene Grubbs, 81, of Chester, VA passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Grace Grubbs; and a son, Robert Grubbs, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Grubbs; children, Marvin Grubbs, Steven Grubbs (Janet), Leonard Grubbs, Sr. ( Penny), Richard McCready (Amber); grandchildren, Jessica Harrington (Matt), Heather Grubb, Robert Grubbs, Jr. (Jenna), Leonard Grubbs, Jr. (Chelsea), Andrew Grubbs, Shannon Grubb, McKenzie Grubbs, Cole McCready, Lydia Grubbs; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Lucy, Molly, Brantley and Macie; a sister, Grace “MiMi” Grubbs; half-brother, Jimmy Grubbs; and numerous extended family and friends. Ray was a member of Gideon’s International and Rock Church of Petersburg, Va. He was also a member of the Ironworkers Local 28, and the Son’s of Confederate Veterans. Ray loved wildlife, spending time outdoors and was an avid Civil War relic hunter. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the funeral home.
