Re-establishing itself in 2009 after a three –year hiatus from its Courthouse location, Howlett’s Restaurant & Tavern customers were overjoyed to once again take pleasure in their famous signature dish – Prime Rib, prepared nightly with Howlett’s special rub, slow cooked overnight, which is why it is so tender, and their specialty recipe for the crab cake.
Howlett’s Restaurant & Tavern is located in the new urban development, the Chester Village Green – Festival Park. Owned by Joe and Brooke Helbling, it serves an American-influence menu offering daily lunch and dinner specials.
Along with their famous signature dishes, other favorites include their fried deviled eggs, stuffed chicken, and bourbon glazed salmon. If you haven’t tried the baked trout with stuffed crab, dressed with lemon and butter – do, it will become a choice selection when dining out. Dinner specials run Monday through Thursday with Tuesday being $16.99 Prime Rib night.
The steak Philly is a popular lunch item and for Saturday and Sunday brunch, the Eggs Benedict and choices of omelets gives a great start to the day. Joe says you can expect a great home cooked breakfast for about $11. “We have specialty omelets and benedicts, pancakes and French toast. Great mimosa and Bloody Mary specials too!”
You do not want to skip dessert when it comes to Howlett’s famous peanut butter pie – a Howlett’s classic – with a homemade graham cracker crust, and creamy peanut butter filling topped with chocolate. Several other classics are also offered and top any meal, any time at Howlett’s.
The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with a seating capacity of 150. A small bar, mostly to accommodate diners with adult drinks, boasts having 10 beers on tap with a mix of craft and domestic. Cozy booths are located on the first floor with access to the patio.
A comfortable banquet room that can hold up to 50 people, perfect for meetings, birthdays, rehearsal dinners, holiday parties. The friendly wait staff gives the restaurant a good, hometown feel.
