Michael Thomas Dubus was born August 30, 1931 in Bernardsville, New Jersey.  He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridget Walsh Dubus, his infant son Thomas and his daughter, Mary Schindel.  Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Catherine; daughter Kathleen (Bob) Cravens of Ellsworth, Maine; son Michael (Marietta) Dubus of Atlanta, Georgia; son Tim (Mary) Dubus of Denver, Colorado; daughter Maureen (Kevin) Stengel of Richmond; and son-in-law Paul Schindel of Chester. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren – Catie, Zach and Molly Cravens; Patrick, Kelsey and Matthew Dubus; Michael, Bridget and Maggie Dubus; Connor, Rory, Neil and Bridget Schindel; and Aidan and FintanStengel – and sister Mary Anne (Bud) and many nieces and nephews.

Always industrious, Mike worked a variety of jobs as a young man in Bernardsville including Dog Warden, Constable, Civil Defense Director and Councilman.  Mike began his career with Allied Chemical in Morristown, NJ in 1954 and transferred to Allied’s Chesterfield Fibers Plant in 1965.  Mike retired from Allied Signal/Honeywell in 1996 after a distinguished and rewarding 42-year career.

Mike was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church for over 50 years and served tirelessly on numerous committees.  He also served for many years on the Chesterfield Planning Commission. In retirement, he developed a love of antique fire equipment and proudly drove his several fire trucks in parades across the state.  He served as Treasurer of the Old Dominion Fire Society for many years and enthusiastically participated in all their events. He will be missed for his love of his Irish heritage, military marching music and outdoor concerts, fireworks, and any and all parades.

Mike was a devoted and loving husband and valued his faith and his family above all else.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mike’s funeral was held on Monday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, South Chesterfield, VA 23834.  Visitation was held at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, ColonialHeights, VA 23834.
