The National School Public Relations Association is honoring Dr. James F. Lane as one of the nation’s Superintendents to Watch. Only 24 school superintendents across the country were selected, and Dr. Lane is the only Virginia superintendent on the list.
The Superintendents to Watch program recognizes educational leaders with fewer than five years experience of the superintendent position who understand that effective communication leads to school and student success. Dr. Lane took over as superintendent of Chesterfield County Public Schools on July 1; he was with Goochland County Public Schools when he was named a Superintendent to Watch.
“It is my goal to be transparent and create a culture where people love to come to work and where parents are confident that they are in the best place for their family.”
Dr. Lane said. “Communication among schools, parents, employees, and community members is integral to achieving our goals.”
The Superintendents to Watch were recognized during NSPRA’s conference this week in Chicago, but Dr. Lane did not attend because he is focusing on his transition plan for Chesterfield County Public Schools.
