Police honor their fallen

The Chesterfield County Police department honored their five fallen officers with a wreath laying ceremony at the Police Memorial Monument located next to the 1911 Historic Courthouse. The brief ceremony included the opening with The Virginia State Police Pipes and Drums, which included members from the City of Hopewell Sheriff’s Office, the Prince George County Police Department, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, Chesterfield County Police and the Metro Richmond Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums followed by the color guard and the honor guard with the wreath.

Corporal Kevin Bacon welcomed law enforcement and community members and Colonel Thierry Dupuis read a poem from “The Gate of Prayers.” Col. Dupuis along with two members of the honor guard place the wreath in front of the monument. The Honor Guard will keep watch at the monument throughout the afternoon.
