Richard S. Wayne, 91, of Chesterfield, Va., passed away, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019.
Richard was born and raised in New York, N.Y.
He earned his master’s degree in chemistry and bachelor’s degree in physical and analytical chemistry. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps and was an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Richard worked for the American Cyanamid Co., where he was manager of the Analytical and Physical Research section. He was a member of the American Chemical Society for 60 years and enjoyed playing bridge, chess and Scrabble.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 41 years, Nancy W. Wayne.
He is survived by: daughter, Karen B. Berzak and son-in-law, Steven M. Berzak; daughter, Dr. Jennifer S. Wayne and son-in-law, Dr. Forrest E. Sloan; granddaughter, Dr. Laura F. Berzak-Hopkins and grandson-in-law, Dr. Adam B. Hopkins; grandson, Bryan J. Berzak and granddaughter-in-law, Graciela Berzak; granddaughter, Stephanie A. Barth, M.S., and grandson-in-law, Air Force 1st Lt. Andrew D. Barth; granddaughter, Nancy K. Sloan; three great-grandchildren, Reese A. Hopkins,Camila C. Berzak and Adelaide A. Hopkins.
The family will receive friends, 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Va. 23831.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, N.J. 08562.
