The Chesterfield County Police Department reports that Melissa D. Edmondson, 39, died following a two-vehicle crash in the 7100 block of Woodpecker Road at about 6:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
Police said a 2018 Volkswagen Beetle was traveling west on Woodpecker Road when it crossed into the eastbound travel lane and struck a 2015 GMC Sierra pick-up truck head-on. Edmondson, the driver of the Volkswagen, was transported to an area hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the truck was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
At this point, the investigation indicates that Edmondson, of the 17200 block of Ivory Bill Lane in Chesterfield, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
