Thomas Dale High School gridiron standouts Bryce Carter, Darius Sterling and Jasiah Williams have all been receiving Division I offers. Now, they all have new ones.

Recently, Carter, a defensive end, was offered a scholarship by Old Dominion University.

A rising junior, Carter has tallied eight offers overall, including from East Carolina, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Duke, UVA, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest.

“He’s gotten up to 260 pounds and colleges are drooling over him,” TDHS football coach Kevin Tucker said. “I expect him to be a 10-15 offer kid by the end of the spring, and after his junior year, he could be in the neighborhood of 30-plus offers.”

At 6 feet, 3 inches, Carter has the size and the quickness to come off the end or the strength to get through the interior of the line. He tallied 100 tackles and four sacks and hurried the quarterback 19 times during the 2018 season.

Sterling, a linebacker, picked up an offer from Wagner College of New York. In addition to Wagner, Sterling has an offer from Kent State of Ohio.

At 6 feet 3 inches and 265 pounds, he too is a physical presence. He racked up 102 tackles (67 solo) and brought the pain to opposing quarterbacks, collecting 12 sacks.

The Wagner Seahawks finished the 2018 campaign 4-7, but won the last two games of the season over Bryant 52-36 and Robert Morris 41-7. It’s a program that coach Jason Houghtaling is building in his fourth season at the helm.

Williams has offers from the Air Force Academy and the University of Richmond. His offer sheet also includes Kent State, Army and Liberty.

He has been an intriguing prospect from the moment he stepped onto the field at Dinwiddie as freshman. Since transferring to Thomas Dale, he’s not skipped a beat.

Despite missing some time to injury, Williams averaging seven tackles a game and breaking up six passes.

“Jasiah is by far one of the hardest working kids that we’ve ever had play for us,” Tucker said. “He’s coachable and is a quarterback on the field, leading his team on both sides of the ball.”
Carter and Williams will both be key cogs next season for the Knights as they enter 2019 hungry for a run at the state championship.
