Obituary---Lois-WilliamsLois Tyus Williams, 94, of Chester, Va. passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. She was born in Griffin, Ga. to her late parents, Roscoe Edison Tyus and Lois Tyus Cox. She was the widow of the late Jim R. Williams, the love of her life. She is survived by her two precious daughters, Ann and husband Richard Ransom of Newton, Ma., Lois and husband Richard White of Burlington, N.C.; four grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Ransom, Laura and Brian White; sisters, Betty Jo Langfield of Griffin, Ga., and Ann O’Farrell of Columbia, S.C. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Tyus Cartledge of Forsyth, Ga.., and Ella Catharine Tyus Raines, of Griffin, Ga.; many nieces and nephews.  She and her husband, Jim were members of Chester Baptist Church and both served on many committees and their Sunday School classes were named the Jim Williams Sunday School Class and the Lois Williams Joy Sunday School Class.  Both were honored by their church for their long service to the church and their love for our Lord.  Lois served as President of Chester Garden Club and served as their Chaplain for a number of years.  She served as President of Richmond Council of Garden Clubs and also served as their Chaplain.  She served as Chaplain for the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Piedmont District for 12 years and Historian during the administration of Elizabeth Lewis.  Lois and Jim enjoyed their traveling adventures abroad.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service was held at on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Chester Baptist Church 4317 School Street. Chester, VA 23831.  Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chester Baptist Church.  Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.
