PFC Hannah Marie Schultz, 18, of North Chesterfield, graduated from the United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. on April 3. PFC Schultz successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD Parris Island as one of 47 recruits in Training Platoon Oscar 4010. Holly Lynn Love of Chesterfield, Va., is one of six winners of the Dominion Memorial Scholarship Program. Holly, daughter of Joe and Sally Love, will receive up to $5,000 for the 2015-2016 academic year. The scholarship is renewable for an additional three years. Now in its eighth year, the scholarship fund was established in memory of Matthew Gwaltney, Rachael Hill and Nicole White – students with close ties to Dominion who were killed in the April 16, 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Ted Salmon, who will be inducted into the Virginia High School Hall of Fame, graduated in 1968 from Meadowbrook High School, where he captained both the football and basketball teams and was selected as the school’s athlete of the year as a senior. Salmon, director of student activities at Cosby High, is one of seven people to be inducted into the Virginia High School Hall of Fame this fall. Proud grandmother and Chester resident Nancy B. Woolridge recently celebrated the accomplishments of her two grandsons. Woolridge’s grandsons Bob and Jack Krudewig were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on June 6. Bob completed the requirements in August 2012 and Jack completed the requirements in June 2014, but they opted to celebrate the achievement together. Both are members of Boy Scout Troop 613, sponsored by First Lutheran Church in Longview, TX. Bob attends Tarleton University in Stephensville, TX. Jack will attend the University of Colorado, Boulder in the fall.
Nearly 50 youth archers, ages 8-20, participated in the Junior Olympic Archer Development Club (JOAD) Summer Kick-Off Tournament held recently sponsored by Chesterfield Golden Arrow Archers (CGAA). James Hagen Jessee came in first in the Basic Compound Bowman Male division with a total score of 391 points.
