A local family had the opportunity to explore Mayan ruins in Costa Maya, Mexico when their cruise made a stop in the port city. Jerry and Linda Jennings, of Chester, started the new year by going on their first cruise to the Bahamas with one of their sons, Jay Jennings, and two of their seven grandchildren, Logan and Lindsey Jennings, from Danville. They took the Village News along and are now hooked on cruising!
Sheila Leckie visited the Town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada last month. Her love and concern for the extinction of polar bears had drawn her to the town and the Village News tagged along. Churchill is one of the few human settlements where you can come face to face with the mighty polar bear from unique tundra vehicles that let you travel in comfort and safety over the snowy terrain.
Sisters Dot Kegley of Staunton, Va., formerly of Chester, and Jane Luck of Chester, made a trip to New York for a taping of “The Chew,” and the Village News was along for the ride.
Bob and Jean Henderson retired and took a trip up to Canada. They said it was beautiful.
Jim Althouse of Chester and Mari Wells of Dinwiddie enjoyed a recent trip to Rome and the Greek Isles. Jim and Mari took the Village News to the Coliseum.
A group of friends recently got together for a few days’ relaxation. Some were friends in high school, some in college, but Roger and John met in the sixth grade in Colonial Heights. The first item on Cathy’s packing list was the Village News!
Earlier this summer, the Patton family, of Chester, took a trip to Europe and toured the ruins in Italy, Greece and Turkey. Here they are pictured in Pompeii, Italy. Leslie Patton is holding the 2015 graduation edition in celebration of the graduation of their fourth son finishing at Thomas Dale High School.
The Chesterfield United U13/ U14 Girls Soccer Team visited Montreal, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario, for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The girls played three international games and attended three World Cup games. The U13 girls are pictured here at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal where they watched No. 1 Germany defeat No. 3 France in a nail-biter.
