The Chesterfield Cultural Arts Foundation recently announced that it has hired Bruce Miller as its new executive director. Miller will begin later this spring following the groundbreaking of the new Baxter Perkinson Center for the Arts. The new venue, the first nonprofit performing arts center in Chesterfield, is a collaboration of the Chesterfield Economic Development Authority and the Chesterfield Cultural Arts Foundation. Although the northwest Massachusetts native painted when he was in high school, Navroski didn’t begin painting in earnest until seven years ago. The 58-year-old Ampthill resident said he got the idea to use acrylic paint on feathers from a woman he encountered while driving to Nags Head. The Heritage Ensemble Theatre Company is excited to announce its premiere of “The Dream Seller and the Forest Dwellers.” The production is scheduled to run Nov. 29 – Dec. 9 at Hickory Hill Community Center, located at 3000 E. Swift Creek Mill Theatre is pleased to present Kathy Rivera as its featured artist during the production of “The Andrews Brothers” running Nov. 11 through Dec. 31. Kathy Quesnel Rivera graduated Madison College with a BS in art education in 1971. She taught one year and left teaching for the business world. Through the mid-’70s she restored oil paintings and cleaned antique prints in a little shop in Staunton. In 1979, she purchased a frame shop in Bon Air. Over a hundred works of art from children and adult artists were on display in Enon recently when Art Adventures, a local studio for kids and adult art lessons in Chester, held its annual art show at the Goddard School in River’s Bend. Best in show art will go on to hang the formal glass gallery in the Suntrust BAnk headquarters in downtown Richmond for the month of June. Art Adventures has been teaching children for over 40 years. Chester artists are invited to join John Tyler Community College for its twelfth annual “Fool for Art Festival” April 22, 2017.
