Anne Canipe The American Geographical Society recently named Chester resident Anne Canipe as a 2019 AGS Geography Teacher Fellow. Canipe, who teaches Advanced Placement Human Geography at Cosby High School, is one of 50 teachers selected to participate in this fourth year of the initiative. The program is a year-long professional development opportunity that enables geography teachers to implement open-source mapping into their classrooms and provides supplementary resources and materials. The Home Building Association of Richmond is hosting the 68th Annual Parade of Homes in October. The event is free to the public. The Parade of Homes, a self-guided tour of the region’s top new homes, begins on Oct. 5-6 and will run all four weekends of the month, including Oct. 12-13, 19-20 and 26-27. Hours are from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be 73 new homes built by 29 builder members in this year’s show. A memorandum of understanding between Dominion Energy and Chesterfield County regarding access to Henricus Historical Park, Dutch Gap Conservation area and boat ramp was unanimously approved Aug. 28 by the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors as part of the consent agenda. Dominion had already signed off on the deal, which calls on the utility to reimburse the county up to $1.1 million for engineering services it provides to bring the plan into fruition. Each year, Davis-Smith makes anywhere from one to three trips to Toubab Dialaw, a West African town located on the Atlantic Ocean.
