Negotiations between workers at the DuPont Spruance plant and the company have resulted in approval of two new contracts. DuPont spokeswoman Deborah S. McNeil said that the Ampthill Rayon Workers ratified the contracts in late August and in September. McNeil said the contracts “will significantly improve the long-term competitiveness and performance of the Spruance site.” The old contracts expired Sept. 1. The contracts cover the production and maintenance unit and the clerical, technical and operations unit, which had been in effect since Sept. 1, 2012 and Sept. 1, 2013, respectively. After being unanimously turned down July 25 by the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors on its request for a permit to use a rock quarry as a landfill, the owner of the landfill, Shoosmith Bros. Inc., recently filed another lawsuit against the county in Chesterfield Circuit Court. Shoosmith’s attorney, Andrea Wortzel, filed the suit Aug. 21. Boyd Homes recently announced the $79.7 million sale of Rivermont Crossing, a 457-unit luxury multi-family community located in Chesterfield County, just south of Meadowville Technology Park, a complex that has attracted companies such as Amazon, Northrop Grumman and Capital One. The sale marks the largest multi-family transaction in southeast Virginia, a press release states. Rivermont Crossing, located at 1530 River Tree Drive south of Route 10 and east of I-295, was purchased by The Stephen A. An 18-wheeler packed full of pumpkins and gourds of different shapes, sizes, and colors recently arrived at Trinity United Methodist Church. Volunteers of all ages unloaded the produce onto the church’s front lawn at 6600 Greenyard Road. The church has partnered with Pumpkin Patch, pumpkinusa.com, each of the last 19 years to supply a variety of pumpkins and gourds. The New Mexican pumpkin farm employs more than 500 Native Americans on the Navajo reservation, including some from the Pueblo, Zuni and Hopi tribes. “They are expected to harvest nearly two million pumpkins in six weeks,” pumpkin patch organizer John Morris…
