During the warmest days of 2016 (June 28 – August 5), Chesterfield County conducted a quality of life survey called the Blueprint Chesterfield. The highpoints of the public service portion of the survey highlighted every aspect of what police Corp. George Fisher has done on the Jefferson Davis Highway corridor. CHESTERFIELD – The Chesterfield County Police Department has arrested six suspects in relation to a double homicide that occurred in the 15000 block of Chesdin Green Way Sept. 4. At about 1:50 a.m. officers responded to a reported shooting at a home under construction in the 15000 block of Chesdin Green Way. Upon arriving and checking the scene, police found two deceased victims with gunshot wounds. CHESTERFIELD – Police have arrested and charged two men who were found to be in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Wednesday. On Wednesday, Aug. 24, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Forest Lake Road and Jefferson Davis Highway. Officers observed evidence of the manufacture of methamphetamine in the suspect vehicle. Virginia State Police and Chesterfield Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. A Florida man, pulled over on Interstate 95 last week, was suspected of drug trafficking and arrested for: distribution of marijuana; transporting controlled substances; manufacturing, selling, giving, and distributing a controlled substance. One hundred thirty-one pounds of marijuana was confiscated.
Two men robbed the 7-Eleven at 10121 Chester Road last week at about 12:50 a.m. Police said the two men entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspects stole cigarettes and cash from the business. Suspects are described as black males, about 5 feet 8 inches tall. Both wore hoodies and a gray bandanna covering their faces.
As the rain gave way, the grillers at Bensley Community Center bravely cooked 550 hot dogs, preparing for the National Night Out crowd to arrive. Earlier this year, the Chesterfield County Police Department began issuing written warnings for minor traffic infractions. Officers have always been able to issue verbal warnings for minor traffic violations that do not pose an immediate or significant hazard or danger to the public, and written warnings are not replacing verbal warnings. Now, officers have the option to end a traffic stop with a verbal warning, a written warning or a traffic summons. Traffic safety is a significant issue in Chesterfield County, according to officials; in 2015, police investigated 22 traffic-related deaths.
