SmartWater CSI – a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. company – provides a liquid that, when placed on an item, glows when exposed to ultraviolet light. Chesterfield police chief Jeffrey S. Katz knew of the product because the police department in Boynton Beach, Fla., began using it when he was there. Chesterfield Fire Engine 11 was rear-ended Nov. 25 while working a crash on Chippenham Parkway. Roadway dangers are something first responders face each time they are on the scene of an incident or travel to and from one. This danger was brought to light once again with a rash of recent near misses involving local rescue and law enforcement personnel. Man dies following two-vehicle crash

A 71-year-old man who was involved in a two-vehicle crash Nov. 29 has succumbed to injuries. Harvey L. Parks, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 4. He was transported to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries following a crash at the intersection of River and Ivey Mill roads around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, according to Chesterfield police. Police investigate gas station robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the A Plus gas station at 2421 W. Hundred Road just east of Chipotle Mexican Grill at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. No one was injured in the robbery. Police said a man rushed into the business, pushed the clerk to the ground and took cash. Teen girl charged after alleged assaults at L.C. Bird High School

A 15-year-old L.C. Bird High School student was charged after she allegedly assaulted two school employees and a school resource officer last week. Chesterfield County Police Department spokeswoman Liz Caroon said the teen was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of assault and battery against a school official, two counts of attempted malicious wounding and possessing a weapon on school property. Chesterfield County Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the 6800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. A silver 2005 Chevrolet Impala pulled off Swineford Road and was crossing the southbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Highway when it was struck by a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling south on Jefferson Davis Highway. CHESTERFIELD – Police are seeking a man wanted in connection with an attempted robbery in 2015. At about 10:15 p.m. Aug. 22, 2015, a woman was in her vehicle in the 5900 block of Slumber Lane. Two unknown, armed men approached the vehicle, tapped on the windows and attempted to open the doors. Nearby motion sensor lights came on, causing the suspects to flee. A 22-year-old Richmond man who was Tased earlier this year for failure to comply with police officers’ orders recently had a charge refiled against him. James Monk was initially arrested March 28 near Virginia State University and charged with obstruction of justice and having illegal window tint. The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Third Avenue adjacent to the Virginia State University campus at 1:55 a.m. Sunday.
